Bear Gulch Pictographs

Beargulch is an incredibly well-preserved pictograph and petroglyph site located in the heart of Big Sky Country.

Fort Peck Theater

The Fort Peck Theater is a Historic Landmark that is owned by the Fort Peck Fine Arts Council. They have live performances on weekends in the summer. Although the Fort Peck Theater is 170 from Winnett (about 2.5 hours) - it would make a great day trip if staying in the Winnett area for a week.

Fort Peck Interpretive center

Visitors to the Interpretive Center are greeted by a life size model of Peck’s Rex, a nearly complete Tyrannosaurus rex discovered 20 miles southeast of Fort Peck. The Fort Peck Interpretive Center is one of fourteen stops on the Montana Dinasaur Trail. Although the Fort Peck Museum is 170 from Winnett (about 2.5 hours) - it would make a great day trip if staying in the Winnett area for a week.

The Montana Dinosaur trail

This statewide trail runs across Montana and consists of 14 locations from the Montana Dinosaur Center in Bynum to the Carter County Museum in Ekalaka. Each location offers a glimpse at the historic discoveries in the state and provides visitors with a better understanding of the giants that once inhabited our planet.

Slippery Ann Wildlife Viewing Area

Each fall, hundreds of elk congregate in the Slippery Ann Wildlife Viewing Area, creating a spectacle not to be missed at the Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge. It is along an excellent 20-mile long self-guided tour which may be accessed from two points along Highway 191 on the west side of the Refuge and takes about 2 hours to complete.

Big Springs Fish Hatchery

Big Springs Trout Hatchery is the largest coldwater production facility in the state. The hatchery is capable of producing 160,000 pounds of fish annually. These fish are planted in about 100 different waters throughout Montana. The hatchery raises five different strains of Rainbow Trout as well as Brown Trout, Kokanee Salmon and Chinook Salmon.

Lewistown Chokecherry Festival

The first Saturday after Labor Day, central Montana ushers in the return of fall with the annual Chokecherry Festival. The festival is attended by more than 5,000 people from near and far, enjoying the event and soaking up the beautiful scenery of central Montana. It's a time of wholesome fun for everyone from tiny tykes to Grandpas.
